What is Facial Bloating/ Swelling:

This is swelling on the face or areas around the face such as the neck or your back. You feel slight puffiness and roundness around your face area. While swelling can look bad, in certain parts of the world a round face is referred to as more beautiful, innocent and youthful look.

Causes of Facial Bloating:

- Weight gain.
- Infection / Allergies/ Reactions: Infections such as flu or bad tooth can cause redness and swelling. Also, allergies to certain food or reactions to certain products applied on face or drugs/medication can cause puffiness.
- Salty and processed food: These are products high in sodium. What your body does is retains the water and dilutes the sodium. a MAJOR causes of bloating!
- Surgery: Plastic surgery around the head or neck can cause swelling.
- Poor sleeping habits.
-Alcohol/ Sodas / Caffeine: causes dehydration!

Bye Bye Puffy Face:

The most rapid way to say goodbye to puffy face is through surgery (Botox) , but of course not all of us can afford it or are against it. There are more easy "at home" ways that you can add into your daily routine to avoid the swelling. Of course, it is not going to give you a dramatic change, but a change that enhances your natural features. You will be surprised that a part of the puffiness was your fault!

- Limiting your salt intake. Avoid Salty and processed food: cut down on your instant noodles, crackers and chips. Eat clean, natural food! I know it is slightly difficult, but try to take baby steps from one cup of noodle a day go to one cup every 3rd day. Soon, you will realize the elimination of these bad boys from your routine.

- Facial massage !! This helps circulate your blood and drain some Lypathic Tissues that have been built up over time. This will help tone your skin and create a lifting effect by decreasing water retention.  Also, a skin care regime can help! Using a cleanser or moisturizer that helps firm your skin.

- Ice Compresses. An alternative is to splash your water with chilled water, rub an ice cube or an ice lolly. A wash cloth dipped into cold water also works good. Place the wash cloth onto your face for 5-10 minutes and relax....ZZzzZZzzzZZ

- Stack up your pillows when going to bed.

- If swelling is due to allergic reactions to certain food, medication or products try to avoid using those items. Follow a diet that doesn't involve food you are allergic to and throw away the products that cause the reaction. If it is due to an infection, treating the infection by taking medication will automatically decrease the bloating.

- Using make up can actually help you appear a lot slimmer. Face contouring is your buddy here! All you need is a bronzer, a brush and the right technique to apply the bronzer around your cheeks  nose, jaw line and forehead. Try to use a bronzer that doesn't have shimmer to give it a more natural look!

- Long term treatment is to drink lots n lots of water to keep your body hydrated and reduce your sodium intake. When your body is dehydrated it depends on the insufficient fluids rather than water.

-Our final and most powerful tool is  EXERCISE!!

Of course, there are many other medical causes of puffy face and that can't be cured at home. These are just few of the causes listed and techniques I've personally used or tips from people I know. Good luck to a pretty face ! :D
